2006 WATC The 2006 world Amateur Teams Championship to be played in Cape Town, South Africa is on track. Amateur Golf's biggest International Event will be played at the De Zalze and Stellenbosch Golf Clubs from 18 - 29 October 2006. The WATC 2006 Organizing Committee are hosting a delegation from the International Golf Federation (IGF) from 31 October to 4 November for meetings and site visits to De Zalze and Stellenbosch Golf Clubs as well as other identified venues for official functions. | The team of George Coetzee, Josh Cunliffe, Kelli Shean and Ashleigh Simon did South Africa proud by finishing joint second with USA behind winners England. In the betterball format George and Josh made 25 birdies while Kelli and Ashleigh scored 23 birdies and an eagle (Ashleigh holed her second on a par 4) for a combined total of -35. George and Josh's combined total of - ... was good enough to end T7th in the men's event while Kelli and Ashleigh finished 2nd in the ladies event. The next tournament will be in 2007 and this team have set an exceptional standard for future teams to follow. | |

| The team representing South Africa at the above event depart on Saturday 22 October on route to Entebbe for the event in Kampala. Accompanied by the manager Enver Hassen, the team will be attempting to emulate the South African team which won the same event two years ago in Botswana.
